The Wind Driven Drawing Machine, originated as part of a solo exhibition; Andrew Mowbray: Tempest Prognosgcator, in 2009 as the inaugural Platform series at the Decordova Museum, Lincoln MA. In this location, it was installed on the rooftop of the museum and generated 11 drawings based on the winds variables over a 3 month time span.
In 2023 I proposed the Wind Driven Drawing Machine, to the Provincetown Public Art Foundation in Provincetown, MA. for a location on Commercial street where generated 13 drawings over a 13 week time span.
In 2024 the drawing machine was commissioned by The University of Massachusetts, Boston as part of the academic conference, Thinking about Climate Change: Art, Science, and Imagination in the 21st Century. It was installed on the Boston Harbor Walk and funded by Arts on the Point, the Paul Hayes Tucker Fund. It generated 7 drawings over a 7 week period, some of which were exhibited in the group exhibition, Nurture: Empathy for the Earth at the University Hall Gallery.
